Qurs Salajeet vs Pure Shilajit Resin: What's the Difference?

Written by Taj Sultan. We sell pure shilajit resin, so we have an interest here. We've stuck to what product labels and listings say, and we suggest you check the pack yourself. Hamdard is a long-established name, and nothing here says its product is unsafe.

Quick answer

Qurs Salajeet is a compound Unani tablet: retail listings for Hamdard Qurs Salajeet show salajeet mixed with other ingredients, including gum acacia, sugar and several kushta (traditional calcined mineral preparations). Pure shilajit resin is one ingredient: purified shilajit and nothing else. If you want shilajit on its own, with a lab report for that exact material, choose resin with a report number, like our PCSIR-tested resin. If you specifically want the traditional Hamdard formula, read its full ingredient list and ask your doctor, especially if you have kidney problems.

These are different products, not better and worse versions of the same thing. The right one depends on what you're looking for.

What is in Qurs Salajeet?

"Qurs" means tablet. Online retail listings for Hamdard Qurs Salajeet (mostly Indian pharmacy sites) list salajeet as the main ingredient, together with gum acacia (gond keekar), white sugar syrup, and kushta preparations, including kushta qalai (calcined tin) and kushta of iron, along with other traditional ingredients. We could not find a published ingredient list from Hamdard Pakistan, and the Pakistani pack may differ, so read the label on the pack you buy.

Kushta are traditional preparations of metals and minerals. If you have kidney disease, take regular medicine, or are buying for someone pregnant or a child, show the ingredient list to your doctor first.

What pure resin gives you

Pure resin is one ingredient, so a lab report on it tells you about everything you're taking.

With single-ingredient resin, a lab report covers everything in the jar. That makes it easier to answer the two questions that matter: is it really shilajit, and is it free of heavy metals?

For our resin: BECS Analytics, Lahore (PNAC-accredited, ISO/IEC 17025) measured 75.17% fulvic acid and 10.96% humic acid (report 2512-905, method ISO 19822:2018). PCSIR Laboratories Complex, Lahore found arsenic, lead, cadmium and mercury not detected (report FBRC/SK/ANAL.REP./1006). Both reports are on our lab reports page.

How to compare price fairly

A tablet pack and a jar of resin can't be compared by sticker price, because you don't know how much shilajit each tablet contains. For resin, divide the price by the grams. Our 20 g jar is Rs 2,399 (about Rs 120 a gram, or roughly 40 to 60 days at 300 to 500 mg a day), and two jars are Rs 3,999. Our shilajit price guide compares brands per gram.

Which should you choose?

Qurs Salajeet may suit you if you specifically want that traditional compound formula, you've read every ingredient, and your doctor is happy with it.

Pure resin may suit you if you want shilajit on its own, want to control the amount, and want a lab report on exactly what you're taking.

Neither is a treatment for weakness, urinary problems or sexual-health concerns. Those need a proper check-up; see our guide to asabi kamzori.

Frequently asked questions

Is Hamdard Qurs Salajeet the same as pure shilajit?

No. It is a tablet that contains salajeet along with other ingredients. Pure resin is shilajit alone.

What are the ingredients of Qurs Salajeet?

Retail listings show salajeet with gum acacia, sugar, several kushta preparations and herbs. Check the label on the exact pack you buy, as formulas can differ by country.

Which is better, Qurs Salajeet or shilajit resin?

They're different products. If you want shilajit only, with a lab report on it, choose tested resin. If you want the traditional compound formula, choose the tablet after checking its ingredients.

Can I take Qurs Salajeet and shilajit resin together?

We don't recommend it. You'd be doubling up on shilajit and adding the tablet's other ingredients. Pick one.

How do I know resin is pure?

Ask for a lab report with a report number, a named lab and results for lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury. Our guide to checking a shilajit lab report explains how.

Roman Urdu mein khulasa

Agar aap sirf salajeet chahte hain aur us ki lab report dekhna chahte hain to tested resin lein. Qurs lene se pehle pack par ingredients parhein, aur gurde ki bimari ho to doctor se poochein.
